Purpose and Reason:

Effective October 1, 2011, the State will change how copays are paid for RIte Share members. Copays will be processed according to third-party liability logic (e.g. Medicaid is the secondary payer). This change does not impact Medicaid members because Medicaid providers are prohibited from balance billing Medicaid members. Additional technical revisions have been made to clarify language and definitions and change the name of the FIP program to RI Works (RIW) as well as technical edits based on comments received to further clarify the rule.
